Hello and welcome to our Blog. We are Timo and Daniel and doing a bike trip through Europe. Here you can read a bit about our travels and check out some pictures. The daily Blog posts will only be on the German site, but we will still try to update here for our international readers.
By the way, Feel free to post on the Guest Book if you have any comments or things to say.

Today we can finally say that our Blog is bilingual. Although there is not much English Content, we are working on it. We have now left the Alps and Switzerland behind us. Yesterday we spent our first night on French soil. Yesterday was also the 5 week point of our journey, although it feels like it has been going on for a very long time. But it is still very fun and we look forward to jumping on our Bikes again tomorrow. The weather will hopefully get better the further South we go.

Greetings Germany, my name is Kyle I am a New Zealand cyclist travelling from Rome to Lisbon and tonights celebrity guest. I was invited to write a few words from my perspective on todays highs and lows through coastal Spain.Todays adventures started from a grassy Plateau overlooking the calm Atlantic sea, the Spanish Sun rising almost to the same pace as our sunburnt legs stretched out of their sleeping bags. Folding, packing down and packing in our simple possesions, onto our backs, we Rode down half paved roads back into the shadowed valleys below. It wasn't long before the memories of our previous day reminded us, that we were in no way past the hills. Heaving kilos of biscuits, bananas and sun Lotion we ascended Mountains and descended into new nameless towns for hours, while the sun rose higher in the blue skies, cooking our legs a little more red. Trent my New Zealand friend shared stories about life back home and the secret medicinal properties of his evening Tea tree oil routines. By midday we had past a countless amount of sunkissed Spaniards and weaved through bizarre half completed property development before pulling into our dry Patch of grassy Bliss.. soon to be called home for the night. soon discovering it was a hotbed of fleabit dogs running feral amongst this well kept Campground. The barking after the first four hours soon turned into a soothing Salsa inspired Party Mix Thanks to our festive neighbours. After a lengthy Beach session, the Sun began to melt into the Atlantic once again and Stretching our legs back we nestled into our nonadic pitched homes and called it another succcesful day on the road. Thank you Germany for reading and thankyou Timo and David for trying to teach Trent and I how to count to five in German.. With no real luck.

The interesting thing about travelling with Timo and Daniel is the little differences. One little difference is food. Whilst Kyle and I like to make Müesil for break fast, Baguettes Sandwiches for lunch, and dinner that include lots of vegetables, these Boys have a different apettite. Their diet falls into two categories: food that can be eaten instantly and food that is the easiest to make. Taste does not come into the equation. Tonight for example they are a meal of Rice and white sauce. It looked like prison food. It is however a a true lesson in German efficiency and has fueled them effectively for over 5000km. however after seeing our dinner tonight the boys have accepted our invitation and will be eatting our cooking tomorrow night.
Yours truly Trent the Kiwi

Trent, nice writing and good observation - although I can assure you that many Germans are taking taste into their equation while eating (not those at McD - for sure). It seems to be a real case of true efficiency if Daniel has reduced his taste that much - I can still remember the burger feasts that he has celebrated with his room mates some months before. I am glad that you can bring them back to the way of real food tasting! It is great to read about you four and to see how both ends of the world are fighting against wind and weather in uniformity. Good luck for your the future!

Hi Kyle and Trent. What a great idea to cycle from Rome to Lisbon (and not being European) being from New Zealand. How did you get into that idea? Just asking ... since a few years ago my idea grew to cycle Route 66, but everybody seemed to shake head (because of great heat in some areas over there and busy traffic too). So Italy, France and Spain don't seem to be popular for offering cycle tracks either... but sure popular for scenic views, great nature and nice people. Kyle, reading your lines feels like being part of it. Thanks for that and best wished for the rest of your trip with Trent and have lots of fun with Timo and Daniel (late riser;-)) before you will have to chop. Greetings from Hannover/Germany. PS: To cycle islands of New Zealand would be a dream too to me:-)

Hi Kyle, it was great reading your blog and imagining the sun following you throughout the day from dust to dawn (although I can think of some more interesting hours after sun-set...). I hope you have enough sun lotion to protect against the European sun - but be assured that it is not as dangerous as the New Zealand sun (at least in Germany is not critical at all). Good luck for your next days and have fun! Hi fuenf ... (German for 5...)

Congrats Kyle, on your poetic blog post! Reading your sentences I almost saw the blue Spanish sky in front of me and felt the sun on my not sunkissed German legs. ( right now we are having nearly fall weather in the north of Germany). So it is good to hear from the sun.
Your group of four boys sounds like a perfect alliance for an interesting bike adventure.
Have fun , good luck and a safe ride to Lisbon ! Many greetings from here
